It has been with humanity for so long that the beginnings of its production are shrouded in an aura of legends and mysteries. All we know for sure is that it comes from China. Clothes made of it are very comfortable, because in a delicate but accurate way they wrap the body.

Silk is a material that will satisfy even the most demanding. It does not restrict movements, emphasizes shapes. It is so nice to the skin that using clothes created from it is a pleasure. It works best in spring and summer.

Natural properties of silk fabrics – silk natural fabric

Silk is a natural material, resulting from silkworm breeding. Made of similar protein strands that naturally occur in our skin. For this reason, cosmetics in which silk is present have an anti-aging effect – albumin cells support skin metabolism.

In the case of clothes, this makes them so soft and smooth, and thus pleasant to the touch. That's not all. Silk, thanks to its natural origin, does not accumulate fungi or mites – it is a material ideal for allergy sufferers. It is airy, allows the skin to breathe freely, does not attract bacteria or electrify. It absorbs water in a very good way. It can absorb up to 30% of its weight, and it will still give the impression of dryness. The soothing properties of silk make it an ideal material for children. You will find smooth silk and patterned silk with us .

Delicate and durable fabric – natural silk

Due to the fact that the silk is so smooth, it gives the impression of being very delicate and susceptible to damage. It turns out that it is one of the most durable fabrics. Its threads can be stretched by as much as about 20% and it will not break. It beats polyester and even cotton. This is why silk is a material so stretchable and perfectly adapts to the shapes of the body. Silk fabrics do not come only in one type. From silk threads are woven:

airy chiffons,

muslins,

delicate żorżetki,

velvety satins,

exclusive Cadi,

jacquards,

Ottomans

shantungi – naturally dyed and woven.

Silk – a material for styling for sunny and warm days

Fabric such as silk works best in clothes in spring and summer. Why? This makes it its natural properties, which in you and sunny days gain in importance. Due to the fact that silk absorbs moisture so well, there is no sensation of sweating in the summer. Such clothes are worn very comfortably on hot days. In addition, the material has thermoregulatory properties – due to the fact that it stops body temperature, heat is much milder. Silk is susceptible to natural dyes that leave vivid beautiful colors on it. And from here it is already a step to unique patterns and styling. Silk clothes are suitable for both more formal occasions and for everyday wear. Summer stylizations are mainly blouses covered with a pattern, silk petticoats, airy dresses or scarves that add charm. This season, the cry of fashion is silk headscarves.

How to know that the purchased silk is real?

The natural silk thread is 100% biodegradable. The best way to know if it is natural is to test it by fire. If we bring a piece of thread closer to the fire, it will start to burn only when it comes into contact with the heat. It will then emit a characteristic smell, reminiscent of burnt feathers. After burning, only ash remains of it.

How to wash silk safely? Silk material and laundry

The natural protein structure of silk makes it necessary to handle it carefully during washing. There are a few things to keep in mind:

silk should be washed in cold or slightly warm water - a maximum of 30°C,

only means intended for washing silk should be used for washing,

silk badly tolerates soaking, twisted silkworm fibers will relax,

to preserve the color for longer, you can try a rinse in water with the addition of a tablespoon of vinegar,

After washing the silk, it is good to gently imprint it and hang it. If we care very much about protection against destruction, the best way is dry cleaning.
