Does flax improve our mood?

Linen has many uses. Its seeds are known for their beneficial effects on the health of m.in intestines and stomach. Linen fibers are also made of this plant, which are used for the production of clothes, bedding, tablecloths, napkins or curtains. Although it is associated with the summer period, linen products work very well all year round.

In our wholesale we offer linen by meters. It is a material in which it is worth investing, both because of its properties and because it is characterized by a proven beneficial effect on human health.

Material that has been with us since the dawn of time – ordinary linen

Linen materials were created even before the first ancient civilizations were created. It is known that in ancient Egypt mummies were wrapped in it. In many paintings from that period we can see depictions of flax, which well illustrates how the plants were grown and processed. Today, it naturally occurs in many places in the world – in almost all of Europe, Asia and parts of Africa.

Linen – its properties come from the structure

What effect linen can have on a person depends on the quality of the fabric. The properties of the material are due to the construction of the plant itself. This plant is divided into several parts:

  • stem – usually erect, without hairs,
  • leaves – they are single, twisted or opposite,
  • flowers – bisexual, usually bloom for a day and fall quickly. They develop at the top of branched shoots. Both the sepals of the calyx, stamens and petals are 5. Flowers are usually blue, but also yellow, red, pink or white,
  • fruits – they come in the form of bags divided into ten chambers, in which there are seeds. These are flattened, black or brown. On contact with water, they secrete mucus, which anyone who uses flaxseed knows.

In the past, linen was associated with poor, rough and crease material. The latter remained to some extent, but the production process and knowledge of flax fibers improved significantly.

Linen is a material with a wide range of applications – linen per meter

Linen works well in clothes for the summer, because it is airy and hygroscopic. It does not attract bacteria and fungi, which makes it safe for the skin and can be easily worn by allergy sufferers. For example, a linen cloth protects food (such as bread) well against premature mold. Therefore, it is worth having one in the kitchen or on a picnic.

This means that linen as a material can help improve our well-being – especially during a heat wave, when choosing the right outfit can be troublesome.

This material also protects the skin from harmful UV. It absorbs water up to 25% of its weight and still does not give the impression of being wet. In this way, from all materials, linen creates the most friendly microclimate for the skin. In addition, during hot weather it receives heat, which makes us sweat less and simply feel better in the sun. It does not electrify and prevents the accumulation of electrical charges on the skin. It is therefore a good fabric for clothes for people working at a computer or other electrical devices.

Flax, due to its properties, is also used in the medical industry, to this day it is used to bandage wounds. It is lightweight, it is worn with pleasure, and this certainly has a positive effect on our mood! As well as the fact that bedding made of linen has a soothing effect and improves the quality of sleep.

How to wash and dry flax?

In the past, linen was washed only by hand, but it can also be done in a washing machine. It should be remembered not to soak it too long beforehand, especially if we wash colored fabrics. Prolonged contact with water discolors flax. In the washing machine, it is better to choose a delicate program and low temperature – preferably not exceeding 30-40 ° C. We can afford a higher one, only if the fabric is completely white. It is better to avoid twisting and wriggling. Flax is quite susceptible to deformation anyway. It is advisable to use mild detergents, without chlorine and bleach.

Drying linen clothes

Immediately after removing linen clothes from the washing machine, it is good to shake lightly. Then it will be easier for them to take the right shape. For drying, it is best to choose an airy place and lay out the linen fabrics flat. One alternative is to dry in a tumble dryer, although you should remember about low temperature. In turn, ironing flax is worth taking when it is still slightly damp. The material will then be best arranged.
